Found in Assam India, Sikkim and the eastern Himalayas in tropical valleys at elevations around 300 meters as a medium sized, hot growing epiphytic species with .6 to 1.2" [1.5 to 3 cm] between each subglobose pseudobulb enveloped basally by fibrous sheaths and carrying a single, apical, coriaceous, linear-oblong, obtuse, obliquely emarginate, sessile to shortly petiolate base leaf and blooms in the spring through summer on an erect, basal, to 8" [20 cm] long, slender, bracteate, 5 to 12 flowered inflorescence that exceeds the heigth of the leaves and has an apical umbel of flowers.
