ORIGIN: Found in eastern Ecuador in extremely wet montane forest at elevations of 750 to 1550 meters.
DESCRIPTION: Medium sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte with ovate, rugose, irregularily furrowed pseudobulbs enveloped basally by several, scarious, non-foliaceous sheaths and carrying 2 apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical, acute leaves that narrows into a basal, elongate, terete petiole and blooms in the winter on an erect, basal, to 5 3/5 [to 14 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence arising on a mature pseudobulb enveloped completely by imbricating, tubular sheaths and holding the single flower beneath the leaf.
