Aerangis cryptodon orchid, also called as The Aerangis with the Hidden Tooth, Aerangis caulescens, Aerangis malmquistiana, Aerangis stylosa, Angorchis criptangis, Angorchis cryptodon, Angraecum buyssonii, Angraecum cryptodon, Angraecum dubuyssonii, Angraecum fournierae, Rhaphidorhynchus stylosus, is a species of the genus Aerangis. This species was described by (Rchb. F.) Schlechter in 1914.  Aerangis cryptodon is native to Madagascar. This orchid is found in the mountains of Ankarara south of Antananorivo and near Fianarantsoa and Toamasina. They grow in damp, evergreen forests and on the rocky slopes of basalt hills, at heights of 200-1800 m.  It is a small sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte or lithophyte with a short stem. These plants produce many roots with a diameter of up to 0.6 cm. The Aerangis with the Hidden Tooth blooms in the fall and winter on an arching to pendulous, to 12 to 16" (30 to 40 cm) long, 8 to 20 flowered, racemose inflorescence with a red brown rachis, brown scarious floral bracts. The flowers are white, waxy, fragrant, durable, with a long, slender crochet-shaped spur, which is twisted and can be up to 18 cm long.
